An ambitious tribute to Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti, Red Hot + Fela brings together an eclectic cast of artists to reinterpret some of his most celebrated and politically charged compositions. Rather than recreating the original recordings, contributors including Questlove, Childish Gambino, tUnE-yArDs, Angélique Kidjo, Kronos Quartet and My Morning Jacket reimagine Fela’s music through a wide range of contemporary styles, reflecting the extraordinary reach of his influence.
Released in 2013 by the Red Hot Organization, the project also supports global HIV/AIDS awareness and healthcare initiatives, honouring both Fela’s musical legacy and his lasting cultural impact.
